How to Stay Grounded during "Maycember" Madness
If life has felt especially full lately… you’re not imagining it.
May has a way of bringing a unique kind of chaos - school events, end of season sports schedules, graduations, PTA commitments, teacher gifts, vacations, work deadlines, end-of-year celebrations, jam-packed social calendars - and the pressure to somehow keep up with it all while still taking care of yourself. I’m exhausted just running through that list!
It’s no surprise that this season has earned the nickname “Maycember,” because for many families, it can feel just as overwhelming as the holiday season.
And for many women, especially busy moms and professionals, this is often the time of year when personal wellness starts quietly slipping further and further down the priority list.
By the time we get to mid-month - just after Mother’s Day especially - many women are left realizing just how much energy they pour into everyone else while quietly putting their own needs on the back burner.
Maybe you’ve caught yourself thinking:
“I’ll be better about taking care of myself once things settle down.”
“I’ll do better next week.”
“I just need life to calm down first.”
If so, you’re not failing. You’re likely just trying to maintain wellness habits in a season that feels overstimulating, overcommitted, and overwhelming. And this is exactly where the all-or-nothing mindset tends to creep in…
The Problem With the “All-or-Nothing” Mindset
A few missed workouts becomes: “I’ve completely fallen off.”
A couple of busy days that you relied on takeout and convenience foods becomes: “I’ll start over Monday.”
One stressful week becomes: “I just need to get through this season first.”
But sustainable wellness was never meant to depend on perfect timing.
In fact, the busiest seasons are often when supportive habits matter the most.
One of the core philosophies behind The Pangea Reset™ is this:
Structure without obsession.
Nourishment without restriction.
Wellness without perfection.
Because the goal isn’t perfection.
The goal is learning how to support and show up for yourself consistently in real life.
Why Outdoor Wellness Matters Right Now
One of the simplest ways to reconnect with your wellness before summer schedules fully take over is by getting back to the basics:
sunlight
movement
hydration
fresh air
nourishing meals
nervous system support
slower moments of connection
I call this outdoor wellness.
Not because you need an elaborate wellness routine or hours of free time every day — but because small moments outside can have a powerful impact on your energy, mood, stress levels, and overall well-being.
Sometimes outdoor wellness looks like:
taking your coffee outside in the morning sunlight
walking after dinner instead of scrolling your phone
eating lunch outdoors
stretching on the patio while your kids play
visiting a local farmers market
taking movement outside instead of viewing exercise as punishment
Simple? Yes. But these seemingly small habits can add up to big changes! They all help regulate stress, support sleep, stabilize energy, and reconnect us to ourselves during chaotic seasons.
Simple Outdoor Wellness Habits to Try This Month
☀️ Start Your Day With Morning Sunlight
Even 5–10 minutes of sunlight exposure in the morning can help support your circadian rhythm, mood, and energy levels throughout the day.
Try taking your coffee, tea, or breakfast outside (without your phone) before diving into text messages, emails and responsibilities.
🚶♀️ Add “Movement Snacks” Throughout the Day
Movement does not always have to be an hour-long workout to matter.
A quick walk between meetings, stretching outside, or a short family walk after dinner all count.
Consistency matters more than intensity.
💧 Stay Ahead on Hydration
As temperatures rise and schedules get busier, hydration often becomes an afterthought.
Keep water, electrolytes, and nourishing snacks with you during:
sports practices
travel
pool days
errands
long workdays
Supporting your energy starts with the basics.
You can find my favorite glass water bottle that helps me keep track of how many ounces I drink each day as well as my current go-to electrolyte powder brands here.
🥗 Simplify Lunches Instead of Skipping Them
Busy seasons often lead to:
skipped meals
random snacking
takeout
eating whatever is convenient
Instead of:
A drive-thru chicken sandwich, fries, and soda that leave you sluggish and crashing later
Try:
A balanced bowl with grilled chicken or salmon, roasted sweet potatoes or quinoa, leafy greens, colorful veggies, avocado, and a simple homemade dressing.
Balanced meals help support:
steadier energy
better focus
fewer cravings
improved mood
more sustainable eating habits
Easy Nourishing Meal Ideas for Busy Weeks
Sometimes the biggest challenge during chaotic seasons isn’t knowing what to eat — it’s having simple ideas that feel realistic for your schedule. Taking an hour to batch meal prep grains and proteins on (salmon or chicken in the air fryer, a big batch of quinoa and chopping some veggies) makes bowls and salads quick and easy to throw together during the busy work/school week.
Here are a couple easy, balanced meal ideas that support more stable energy without requiring hours in the kitchen:
Mediterranean Salmon Bowl
A simple, nourishing lunch or dinner packed with protein, healthy fats, fiber, and color.
Build your bowl with:
1 serving Grilled or air-fried wild-caught salmon
¾ Quinoa or roasted sweet potatoes
Chopped English cucumber + cherry tomatoes
Mixed greens (I link to use a blend that has 2-3+ different varieties)
Hummus or avocado
Crumbled sheep’s milk of DF feta (optional)
Fresh parsley or dill (fresh herbs make this really taste like restaurant quality!)
Lemon tahini dressing (I love this Detoxinista recipe!)
Perfect for meal prep and easy to throw together during busy weeks.
High-Protein Mason Jar Salad
A grab-and-go option for busy afternoons when skipping lunch or snacking all day feels easier.
Layer in a mason jar (bottom to top):
Homemade vinaigrette (i.e. whisk together a couple tbsp of EVOO, lemon juice, sea salt, pepper, garlic & onion powder)
Chickpeas or quinoa
Your favorite chopped colorful veggies
Grilled chicken or turkey
Mixed greens
Pumpkin seeds or sliced almonds (keep on the side until ready to eat)
Shake and pour into a bowl when ready to eat.
Balanced meals like these help support:
steadier energy
better focus
fewer afternoon cravings
improved mood
more sustainable wellness habits
Because nourishment should feel supportive — not stressful.
📵 Create Small Moments Away From Screens
When life feels overstimulating, even a few intentional minutes outside without your phone can help regulate your nervous system.
You do not need a full wellness retreat to reset your energy.
Sometimes you simply need a moment to breathe.
Sustainable Wellness Starts with Supportive Rhythms
I’m not suggesting that your goal this summer is to do everything perfectly.
Instead, I invite you to intentionally create supportive rhythms that help you feel more grounded, nourished, and energized — even during busy seasons.
Not abandoning yourself every time life gets chaotic. Not waiting for the “perfect time.” Not believing you have to overhaul your entire life overnight.
Just returning to the habits that help you feel your best — on and off the plate. Because sustainable wellness is built in real life, not perfect life.
